Is it the right choice to start blogging in 2020
Yes or no, obviously the answer cannot be simple. Because blogging is a type of work, whether it suits you depends on you!
I often see people on the Internet asking if blogging is still a viable business.
The answer is. Yes!
Blogging can still be a profitable business. In fact, this is one of the good ways to make money. A correct mentality, a right tool and a right strategy are necessary prerequisites. If you put in work and take it as seriously as you do other work, and you are willing to learn, then you will usher in the first income from the blog!
So, should you succeed?
Yes, from the success of the blog.
But this is also a lot of work that needs to be completed, and a lot of work at the beginning did not return much. In the first few months, you may create content that no one will read. You may start to lose momentum, and this blow will continue. Then the content is published once a week or even a month instead of always publishing the content every day.
If you do this, you will fail. I am pretty sure.
The thing you have to remember is that you have to keep working in one way every day .You do n’t have to publish new articles every day, but you have to spend every day planning your blog content.
A good attitude is a good start
Stop self-deprecating thoughts, such as “I don’t have enough qualifications and enough page views”, or “Someone is already writing, why should I repeat?”
Let me tell you my true thoughts.
My blog is about lifestyle. Before I started blogging, there were other bloggers who also wrote blogs. They are very successful.
- make millions of dollars every year.
- They write blogs full time
- the pages are beautiful
- the words are gorgeous
- And the photos are amazing!
But I am very clear about my goals. I want to earn enough server hosting fees in the 6th month and then earn 1K per month in the second year. The fact is, I reached 1K （per month）in just over a year. 16th month to be exact. During this time, I made a lot of mistakes, and I also learned a lot about blogging, do you know? I am still learning.
something unexpected may happen any time
Through all of this, I determined my direction and firmly believed that I already had 20,000 followers by the end of the first year. It was at this time that I made some mistakes, deleted important emails by mistake, and lost my mobile phone, which became my most unlucky day in 2019. The account password cannot be retrieved.
I just saw a little victory, but I lost it instantly. After calming down, I decided to stick with it. Starting a new blog from the beginning, instead of falling into frustration, on the contrary, I see this thing as a revelation.
I started to establish new business processes and worked towards safety and planning.
In every step of the next work, I try my best to do my best. In terms of how much money I make or how many followers I have, this is no better than the previous blog … these things take time. So I cannot get the same result in just a few weeks or even months. However, in terms of content and quality, I have tried my best to reach a whole new level.
Before writing a blog post, I will thoroughly study the income reports of other blog authors and then revise my strategy.
I will not deny my existence because of the success of others. What I need to do is always focus on what can be done to help my audience, which is actually what you need to do. If you can continue to provide useful information, then more audiences will become your fans. And, eventually, you will create your own brand.
Find the Right Niche
Many successful blogs are related to finding the right topic. The blog topic covers all content, and for bloggers, there are success stories in every field. Even if it is an unpopular topic, there is a wonderful successful person who said he did it.
No one can say the right topic. You must decide for yourself.
Also, do n’t worry too much about choosing a “profitable niche market”. Because all niche markets make money.
When choosing a niche market, choose what you are really interested in. You don’t have to be an expert, but you must be willing to learn and research before writing it.
Senior blogger Brandon Gaille has compiled a list of some bloggers ’ideas and provided in-depth research on niche income reports. If you are still unsure about the direction of blogging, this article may have something for you Inspired. This article analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of each niche.

I suggest you choose 1-3 market segments before starting.
Choose Your Blog Domain
When choosing a blog name, I think you should choose a simple method. Easy to say, easy to spell, easy to remember. It ’s best to remember something for your audience.
Choose a name based on your characteristics. Examples: Big Mouth John, twin mothers, money-saving monkeys.
Use yourself as the name of the blog. Examples: Melyssa Griffin, Jenna Pete, Neil Brown.
As for the domain name, it should be the same as the name of your blog. Sometimes it can be difficult to obtain a domain name, especially if the name you choose involves common words or easy-to-remember words.
You can spend a few minutes to decide the blog name, a good name is the beginning of success. I have started two blogs, and the response has been very good, such as the name I chose for this blog. The only problem is the length of the domain name and the fees paid. I suggest you do n’t pay too much attention to the popular domain name “.com or .net“
If you want an easy-to-remember name, you will pay a high fee, such as you can never afford www.bbc.com
If this happens, please look for another name. Or try to get a domain name other than “com”. You may want to use .net or .co.
If you insist on using com, your name will be very long. For example, www.UncleSamAndHisGoodFriendBlog. com
Choose a domain name that is easy to remember and spell. The domain name should be the same as your blog name, and choose a .com domain if possible.
Choose a Blogging Platform
If you want to have a profitable blog, please use self-hosted WordPress. This means that you will need to purchase a hosting service and then install WordPress software (free of charge) in your hosting server.
Don’t sign up for WordPress.com. That is not self-hosted and has many limitations. In other words, you can hardly make money through that.
There are many such free platforms, which I will talk about below. These platforms have different restrictions for free users.
- Disable code insertion
- Prohibit the use of custom domain names
- Limit storage space
- Space provider ads must be inserted
I list several popular free blog sites, I hope you understand the blog service you are using, and turn to a profitable state as soon as possible.
Unless you do n’t want to make money, you should choose a blog program and hosting service that you can fully control.
Which hosting service should I use?
Your hosting company is the focus of your blog. All files associated with the blog are stored here. If there is an accident on the blog server, you want to ensure that the hosting company is easy to use and has excellent customer service capabilities.
Finding the ideal hosting provider is very important to me. Therefore, I did a lot of research on all available hosting options. I found these three web hosting providers. Hostgator, Bluehost and Siteground almost dominated the market. Finally, I decided to sign a contract with Siteground.
Siteground’s web hosting service has had the highest satisfaction rate among regular consumers for years. Entrepreneurs, web developers, small business owners, and other impartial users have plenty of great things to say about Siteground. It is consistently ranked #1 on Facebook polls.
My main concerns are:
Reliable customer service-I found Siteground with 24/7/365 phone, live chat and email support. I have personally requested Siteground support many times. No matter what time zone I am in, someone will help me.
Affordable plan – Siteground’s first year costs less than $ 4 per month + free certificate + full refund-if you change your mind, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Now let’s go over how to start a blog with Siteground. Below is a step by step guide to start a blog with Siteground.
Sign Up for SiteGround Hosting
Step 1: Choose a hosting plan
Web hosting is the online storage space for your website. When you register a hosting plan through Siteground, you store all website data on the Siteground server. SiteGround offers three hosting plans-StartUp, Grow Big and GoGeek.
These three plans can meet everything you need as a blogger. I chose the basic plan (StartUp) because I had only one website at the time and did not need all the other features of the other two plans. The monthly cost is $ 3.95. Now, I use the GrowBig plan because my traffic and storage space have exceeded the basic plan.
If you plan to develop in the blogging industry for a long time, I strongly recommend that you choose not the cheapest option but the one above (GrowBig plan). Trust me, you will have other features that will make your website faster and safer.
breakdown of plans
The GrowBig plan has the SuperCacher feature, which increases the speed of your websites
The GoGeek plan is ideal for IT professionals, with advanced hosting needs.
Step 2: Register your domain name
After choosing a plan, you will need to register a domain name.
SiteGround provides free domain name registration for first-time customers who purchase a hosting plan. Usually, the domain name registration price is $ 15. If you already have a domain name, you can skip this step.
Step 3: Complete your order
After selecting the domain name, you will be prompted to fill in your personal information. When registering, users will be required to submit credit card information.
Submit credit card information. .
In this section, you can choose how long to plan. There are four options:
1 month trial
I adopted a three-year hosting plan. Obviously this is the most cost-effective, because if you only choose a one-year plan, then when you renew, the custodian fee will become the normal selling price. $5.95/mo (Regular: $11.95/mo)
Now, review everything, and then click the “Pay Now” button to purchase your brand new SiteGround hosting plan!
Step 4: Log in to SiteGround eservers.
Set up your website, or install wordpress
Follow the prompts to complete wordpress and you can log in to your blog
When I want to log in to my WordPress site, it looks like this:
Step 5: Install a Template
First, you’ll need to log into your WordPress Dashboard. And then, to install a theme, go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, and then click on “Add New”. Follow the prompts to install the theme of choice, and then click on “Activate”.
Step 6: Install NECESSARY WORDPRESS PLUGINS
- WP Recipe Maker –The easy and user-friendly recipe plugin for everyone. Automatic JSON-LD metadata for better SEO will get you more visitors!
- Contact Form-Set up the “Contact Me” page so that people can send you a direct message.
- Pin It Button On Image Hover And Post –Pinterest pin it button on image hover plugin provides facility to pins your blog posts, pages and images into your Pinterest account boards.
- Social warfare-set up a sharing widget at the top / bottom of the post. More shares = more traffic
- Google Analytics-Set up web analytics on your dashboard.
Yoast SEO is the most important plug-in you need to download, because it can help Google crawl your website better. Google searchability is critical to its success. Search traffic from Google is likely to be the number one or number two driver of your website traffic, so you need to ensure its SEO optimization. The free version of Yoast can do the job. show me how to install the plugin
Starting a blog is easy, isn’t it? Of course you don’t have any content yet. Now you will be taken to the WordPress dashboard (this is the place you will come to frequently in the future).
If you have completed all the steps so far, please give yourself a compliment because you did it! Now you can enjoy learning, designing, customizing and more fun!
If you want to continue to install cute themes, I recommend these!
You will find that WordPress provides several free themes, which can be easily installed with one click. While browsing these options, I found that there are no free theme options consistent with my brand. Therefore, I conducted some searches and found that there are several subject websites. Two of my favorites are templatemonster.com and themeforest.net, and they look and feel professional and authoritative, not amateur blogs.
themeforest is the most famous theme developer in the industry. It has the fastest loading time and a clean, responsive design. They have first-class customer support and very detailed installation tutorials.
I hope this tutorial is helpful and inspiring for you.If you have any other information that you want me to add, please let me know. If you have created a blog, I will be happy to help you, so please feel free to contact me!
