At the age of five, he made his debut in the 1970 Robert Downey Sr. movie “Pound”. Later, he collaborated with Brat Pack in the teenage films “Weird Science” (1985) and “Less Than Zero” (1987). In 1992, Downey portrayed Chaplin in the biopic, for which he was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor and won the British Academy of Film Award.
After getting rid of the influence of drug abuse, he joined the TV series Ally McBeal and won the Golden Globe Award for it; however, after two drug charges, one at the end of 2000 and the other at the beginning of 2001, he was fired. The career ends. Soon thereafter, he accepted the drug treatment plan ordered by the court and has remained sober since 2003.
